Channels and dates can change. The official NHL schedule lists where every game airs, and our guide on when to watch NHL games explains the weekly game nights.
National Games on ESPN and ABC
ESPN is one of the league’s national partners, with about 100 exclusive games in the 2026/27 season on ESPN and ABC, including the opening-night tripleheader and ABC Hockey Saturday. Stream them in the ESPN app with an ESPN subscription or your TV provider login.
Wednesday Nights on TNT and HBO Max
TNT Sports carries Wednesday night games all season, plus big events such as the Winter Classic. The games stream live on HBO Max, on plans that include live sports. TNT also has the 2027 Stanley Cup Final in the U.S.
Out-of-Market Games with NHL Power Play
If your favorite team plays far from where you live, its games will not be on your local channels. NHL Power Play in the ESPN app streams more than 1,000 out-of-market games during the season, so you can follow your team from anywhere in the U.S.
Your Local Team
Local games air on your team’s regional sports network, usually through a TV provider or the network’s own app. In some markets, DAZN is the streaming home for local games, for example the Rangers, Devils, Islanders and Sabres through MSG and YES, and the Los Angeles Kings.
One App for the National Channels: Sling TV
Prefer a single subscription for the national channels? Sling TV brings live channels that carry the NHL, such as ESPN and TNT, without a cable contract, on your phone, computer or TV.
In Canada
Sportsnet is the national home of the NHL in Canada, on TV and on Sportsnet+. Check the schedule for regional games of your team.
On Your Phone: The NHL App
The official NHL app is free and keeps you on top of every game with live scores, Gamecenter, highlights and goal alerts, and it shows where each game is on. In the U.S., the live games themselves are on the partners above. Our NHL app guide shows how to set it up.
Simple Ways to Spend Less
- Start with what you have. Many TV and internet plans already include ESPN or regional networks.
- Use an antenna for ABC. ABC’s Saturday games are free over the air in most areas.
- Subscribe month to month. Most streaming plans can be canceled anytime.
- Pick by your team. A local fan needs the regional network; a fan far from home needs NHL Power Play.
